New apartments planned for Aigburth children’s home

A former children’s home near Lark Lane could be demolished to make way for apartments under new proposals.

Nugent Care has submitted plans to tear down Moredale Children’s Home on Livingston Drive, which has lain derelict for a number of years.

Nugent, which owns the site, has submitted plans to Liverpool City Council for two apartment blocks and four mews homes on the 1.17-acre plot which is currently overrun with weeds.

How the mews homes could look

If approved, the development could provide 20 two-bedroom apartments alongside four two-bedroom mews homes.

According to the planning application, the current 1970s buildings are “not sympathetic” with the qualities of the Victorian Villas which surround it whereas the new plans have taken design cues from the neighbouring properties and represent a “21st century interpretation of the large detached Victorian Villa”.
