‘Blue Monday’ fundraising feast

A night of food, wine, beer and cocktails will brighten up ‘blue Monday’ in the name of charity.

Alder Hey Children’s Charity will host the event at Fazenda Bar & Grill in Exchange Flags, bringing celebrations to a day which is claimed to be a depressing time of year.

All proceeds from the 15 January evening will go to the cause, helping to develop the hospital’s ward-based chef programme and menus.

Tickets are £60, including a cocktail reception prior to the meal. There will also be a live auction, special guests and a chance to vote for the best dish. For more information call 0151 282 4560.

Steakhouse rebrand planned for Otterspool pub

A well-known South Liverpool pub could be rebranded as a steakhouse under new plans.

Mitchells & Butlers, which owns Harvester Otterspool near Jericho Lane, wants to turn the pub into a Miller & Carter Steakhouse.

The firm has submitted an application to Liverpool City Council for a brand change and refurbishment.

If approved the restaurant would become Liverpool’s second Miller & Carter, joining an Albert Dock branch.

2018 expansion lined up for popular pub

Expansion plans are in the pipeline for a popular Georgian Quarter pub in 2018.

The Caledonia has taken to social media to tell followers how it’s preparing to build on the success of 2017 – a year that saw it launch a vegan food offering.

Via Facebook a spokesperson for the pub says: “In 2018 we hope to stay the same and aspire to get better! Plans to open an upstairs dining room (so we can take bookings!), join Deliveroo and open a couple of little side projects are in the works!”
