Ambitious Chinese takeaway chain Hotcha could be on it’s way to Liverpool.
Plans have been submitted to convert the former Mezz bar on Allerton Road into the brand’s first northern franchise.
Owner James Liang, who set up the business four years ago, believes he has spotted a gap in the market for a national Chinese takeaway chain and aims to become the “Domino’s of Chinese”.
The firm currently operates 10 outlets across the South West including four in Bristol, where it is based, and in November 2015 announced it had signed a deal with two ‘highly experienced multi-unit franchise operators’ to open 10 stores in the Liverpool and Cheshire area.
Hotcha would have some serious competition if it was to open on Allerton Road with popular takeaway Beijing City just across the road and the long established Eastern Diner restaurant not far away at the bottom of Green Lane.
