New bar to bring gin vending machine to Liverpool City Region

A new deli and wine bar where customers can enjoy glasses of gin and wine from vending machines is heading to the Liverpool City Region.

Barrique, which opened in Lytham two years ago, has chosen a former bank on Liverpool Road in Birkdale for its newest location.

Located within Lytham’s Grade II-listed Market Hall, Barrique (pictured) is a wine shop, bar and deli which stocks wines from around the world.

The establishment also offers small plates, meats and cheeses sourced from local suppliers available to eat in at the venue or to take home.

Jake Crimmin, Charles Furnell and Michael Robinson launched Barrique, which means oak wine barrel, in 2016. The team has now decided a former Santander bank in Birkdale will be their second site.

Jake, who was a former sommelier at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant in London, told Your Move that the new Birkdale venue will follow the same formula as its older brother up the coast “with a few additions”.

One of these additions is a gin vending machine, which Jake thinks is a first for the area.

He says: “Barrique in Birkdale will essentially be a place where people can meet, unwind and explore taste with our wine vending machine, gin vending machine and casual tapas plates, in a relaxed, Barcelona café-style atmosphere.”
