A new aparthotel could be coming to Duke Street under plans submitted to Liverpool City Council.
Applicant Epic Liverpool Ltd has revealed proposals to transform three vacant commercial buildings into a 21-bed complex with retail or leisure units on the ground floor.
The building in question, 151-155 Duke Street, is a former terrace of Georgian houses which was decorated with Chinese-themed artwork as part of an initiative to improve the Ropewalks and Chinatown areas.
A statement issued to the council reads: “The site lies within the Ropewalks regeneration zone in Liverpool city centre, along Duke Street and adjacent to Liverpool ONE shopping centre and within walking distance of Liverpool docks.
“The site is highly sustainable, as it is within walking distance of surrounding shops, local amenities, bars and restaurants.
“The existing buildings are currently vacant and most of the windows are boarded. The interior has been stripped out to structure and all three buildings are internally connected.”
Epic Liverpool already operates an aparthotel nearby at 75 Duke Street, as well as one on Seel Street and serviced apartments on Campbell Street.
