New apartments planned for historic Liverpool building

Plans have been revealed to add an additional 20 apartments to an historic building in Liverpool city centre.

An unnamed applicant is seeking permission to build a two-storey roof extension onto Irwell Chambers in Union Street, increasing the number of flats within.

Irwell Chambers hosts a range of short-stay apartments located in the heart of Liverpool city centre and the commercial district.

The building itself dates back to the 1800s, but the refurbished apartments it currently contains are contemporary in design and all centre around an indoor courtyard.

Irwell Chambers has transport links nearby, lying in close proximity to Moorefields Underground Station and Liverpool Lime Street National Rail, as well as popular tourist attractions The Beatles Story, Liverpool War Museum and Albert Dock.
