Public called on to nominate Merseyside community heroes

Knowsley-based First Ark is calling on the public to nominate people and businesses from across Merseyside who they think deserve recognition for their contribution to the community.

The First Ark group, which includes Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) and facilities management and property refurbishment firm Vivark, is holding the First Ark Impact Awards later this year.

The awards recognise those individuals and organisations who have gone the extra mile and made a positive difference within Merseyside.

Last year’s event saw over 200 people come together to celebrate the achievements of the unsung heroes who do so much to improve the lives of others.

Previous winners include Halewood Youth in Community Centre and domestic violence charity The First Step.

Nominations for this year’s event close on Monday 18 September and the categories include inspirational person of the year, apprentice of the year and social organisation of the year. There are also awards for entrepreneur and volunteer of the year.

Speaking ahead of the awards, Bob Taylor, chief executive of First Ark, says: “These awards are a great opportunity for us to celebrate the people and organisations who go the extra mile for their community

“We’ve got a few new award categories this year, in recognition of the growing number of people and businesses we’re working with from across Merseyside.”
