Liverpool’s Snowflake Trail is set to return for a third year this December and the festive event’s organisers are seeking contributors for project.
Open Culture CIC and Liverpool BID Company are calling for proposals from artists and creative organisations to design and decorate the fibreglass snowflakes which form part of the trail.
The Snowflake Trail is a city centre-wide winter festival of soundscapes, light shows, interactive window displays and a trail of sculptures from visual artists across the region.
The fibreglass snowflakes, which measure in at 1.5m tall and 1.36m wide, provide a blank canvass for artists to showcase their work during the Christmas period.
There is no specific design criteria, but contributors are advised to come up with artwork which is “vibrant, eye-catching and festive”. It should also cater for a “broad range of audiences and ages and tell a story or explain the context of the design”.
Snowflakes must be completed, including drying time of all coats of varnish, on or before 23 November 2016, with the Snowflake Trail set to begin on 1 December and run until 3 January.
