Work begins on Strand Plaza transformation

Work has begun to transform a prestigious building on Liverpool’s Strand into 135 apartments.

Primesite Developments’ £26 million 10-storey Strand Plaza will include luxury penthouses and a 24-hour concierge service.

Architectural firm Brock Carmichael was appointed to refresh designs for the former Ministry of Defence offices, which were vacated in 2007.

An additional two storeys, which will house the luxury penthouses, have been added to the scheme to match the height of buildings nearby.

Curtain walling, new windows and a new facade will the give a fresh look, with interiors lending a “Chicago feel” to the development.

Work on Strand Plaza is expected to be completed in July 2018.

Bobbie Johnson of Primesite Developments says: “We are unbelievably excited about Strand Plaza.

“As one of the last undeveloped sites sitting directly on the main road into our city, this really isn’t an opportunity that comes along every day.

“Working with Brock Carmichael, we are transforming a derelict site into quality residential properties, and the penthouses will introduce the first wave of super-apartments into the city.”

Chris Bolland, managing partner at Brock Carmichael, adds: “The latest designs enhance the importance of the building and its prime position, with penthouses to rival any city and entry level studio, one and two-bedroom apartments.”
