Work is underway to bring the famous Higson’s beer brand back to Liverpool with a new Baltic Triangle brewery.
Two former rubber manufacturing warehouses are being transformed into the establishment, which will feature a brewing and distilling hall, a bar with food offering and a tasting room.
The Bridgwater Street project has been designed by city architect Condy Lofthouse and is being developed by Wirral-based contractor Trustland.
Pete Williamson, the project architect for the 11,000 sq ft brewery, says: “It’s a fascinating project that respects the urban grain and which will bring additional life to an area that is regenerating rapidly.
“The bar and visitor experience will benefit from lots of exposed brick, glass and ironwork and the brewing and distilling use will sit very well in this diverse neighbourhood.”
Work is expected to be completed in autumn before the site is handed over to the brewery.
